CHURCHES

Ivan is often referred to as the Virginia artist who paints churches.  25 of his original church paintings were featured at the Swift Creek Mill Theatre in Colonial Heights during the production of "Church Basement Ladies".

For over 25 years, Ivan’s specialty was painting beautiful scenes of churches in his home state of Virginia.  He usually spent considerable time with the church to capture the right feeling that depicts the character of the church; its history and its congregation.  It is often said that Ivan actually paints memories.

Many churches commissioned Ivan to create an original painting which he displayed in their sanctuary during the worship services for several weeks.  The congregation was offered an opportunity to order prints prior to the printing process.  Once printed, Ivan signed and numbered each print by hand and packaged each print on foam core or mat board with shrink wrapping.  Ivan liked to personally attend the church function during which time the congregation got to meet and greet the artist.  (Ivan was often asked to speak or sing!)
